Microfinance awareness-raising campaign in Japan
A better understanding of microfinance is essential before Japan becomes more involved in the sector.
Through conferences, workshops, training programs, internships, field visits, and public relations campaigns, PlaNet Finance Japan will endeavor to increase the awareness of microfinance in Japan, deepen the understanding of the challenges faced by the sector, support the development of Japanese microfinance specialists, and stimulate a discussion of the role Japan can play to support the growth of microfinance.

The microfinance sector has grown rapidly in the past decade, but many factors still constrain its capacity to assist the poor.
In order to alleviate these constraints, PlaNet Finance Japan will assess the needs of the microfinance sector in developing countries and, for selected locations, develop programs to address those needs.
Working with the private sector and government agencies in Japan, specialists from the PlaNet Finance network, and partners in developing countries, PlaNet Finance Japan will assemble the financial and technical resources necessary to carry out projects to support the microfinance sector.
Programs to support microfinance institutions fall into five categories:

In order to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the projects, PlaNet Finance Japan will monitor and report to all stakeholders the financial and non-financial results of each project.
