Basic Policy Concerning Protection of Personal Information

PlaNet Finance Japan (PFJ) regards the protection of its supporters' personal information as an important mission in our operation. We intend to fulfill the expectations of our supporters by appropriately protection and management of the same.

  1. Request for Disclosure and Amendment of Personal Information.

    PFJ shall collect our supporters' personal information in an appropriate and lawful manner to the extent required by our operations. Such information shall be used appropriately within the purpose stated in "Purpose of Use of Personal Information" below and shall not be used for any other purpose.
  2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information
PFJ shall use the personal information it collects with respect to the following operations to the extent required for the fulfillment of the PFJ statement of purpose:
    1. Advancement and implementation of research and activities in support of the microfinance sector;
    2. Research, planning and reporting of activities that support the microfinance sector;
    3. Issuance and delivery of receipts etc. for donations to PFJ;
    4. Events in which PFJ is a sponsor and the provision and/or delivery of its newsletter;
    5. Receipts issued and delivered for fees received for membership in the PFJ general assembly;
    6. Statistics related to PFJ operations;
    7. Other activities necessary for the operations of PFJ
  3. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
PFJ shall not provide or disclose the collected personal information to any third party except in the following cases:
    1. where the consent of the supporter himself/herself is obtained;
    2. if required under laws and ordinances;
    3. if necessary for the protection of the supporter or the general public;
    4. if required by a financial institution accepting deposits from our members (membership fees) and supporters (donations);
    5. if necessary in the course of publishing reports or sponsoring events; in this case, PFJ will carefully choose the third party and provide applicable oversight
  4. Safety Management of Personal Information
PFJ shall endeavor to maintain the accuracy of personal information and to keep it updated. In addition, PFJ shall take the appropriate safety management measures, without limitation, for the prevention of loss, divulgence or damage of personal information, which shall be reviewed from time to time as may be necessary.

  5. Measures against Complaints Concerning Handling of Personal Information

    In the case where any complaint is made to PFJ in relation to the handling of personal information, PFJ shall examine the details and endeavor to handle the complaint appropriately and promptly within a reasonable length of time. Complaints and other inquiries from supporters concerning the handling of personal information are accepted at the PFJ office (contact@planetfinance.or.jp).

  6. Disclosure and Amendments Concerning Handling of Personal Information

    PFJ accepts requests for disclosure and amendments concerning personal information of its supporters. Supporters may request disclosure or amendments of their own personal information at all times through the prescribed procedures of PFJ.   7. Practicing Continuous Improvement of "Basic Policy Concerning Protection of Personal Information"

    PFJ will ensure that all employees and related personnel of the organization are fully aware of its personal information protection policy.

    PFJ shall continuously review its “Basic Policy Concerning Protection of Personal Information” and any related internal rules and endeavor to improve the handling of supporters' personal information.
